POSTOPERATIVE CARE

When you leave the hospital, you will be instructed to use the antibiotic drops that were started before the surgery. These are to prevent infection and keep the eye moistened.

You will be asked to come to the office the day following the surgery.

The first vision improvement you will probably notice is how much brighter colors appear. Over the next several days, you will see additional improvement in your vision

Immediately following the surgery, you should avoid rubbing or pressing on the eye. The doctor will ask you to sleep and rest in the eye shield that you were given at the hospital. You will be given a pair of sunglasses to protect your eyes from bright sunlight and will be asked not to lift or strain for the first few days following your surgery. Otherwise, you will be able to go back to work and resume other activities within a few days after your surgery. Any questions you have regarding your postoperative activities can be discussed with your physician and his staff.
